Our 4th spring (we planted it in late spring 4 years ago). It was 6'9" tall this winter before it started budding out. Appears to be growing about 6 inches a year.

for comparison, a pic i took the day I planted it: https://mltshp.com/p/ZGHK

I don't want to dilute it!

Actually, they did tell me to make sure it got a good weekly soaking in its first couple of years while it got established, but I will still soak it once in a while on top of what it gets from a regular lawn watering.

We've been considering long-term, moving in a few years, & the other day the wife said "We can't move -- we won't get to see our tree grow up." for as hardy and attractive as they are, I can't say I've seen a single other bigtooth maple in Austin, & I've been looking. Seems like they'd be more popular.

We had a pretty wet fall & winter overall, too. Spring's been a bit dry, so far.
