Directing, 2003-08-14 Toronto
Not a great scan, but it's a photo I thought I'd lost forever.

Taken in Toronto on the afternoon of the 2003 blackout, I was struck by the way she directed traffic in the middle of the intersection

Thanks, all. I'm not sure what street that was on. I was facing north, and I think I was east of downtown: the street sign is brown on the original colour image. So possibly in Old York or Cabbagetown. The main street was likely King St. She was caught in a beam of light from between two buildings, as evidenced by her very crisp shadow. If I felt really dedicated, I could estimate the time of day from that, but I think it was around 6 pm. I'd already tried to get a GO Train, but they were out and Union was a mess.

This is a flatbed scan of a 4x6 print
