@Moriah and I are in the process of moving across the country to PDX. That means leaving NYC—our home for 16 years, apart and together.
2021 has turned into a year of making big moves for both of us - prompted by the overall situation in the world but also little things in our lives and the lives of our friends and families. We're all getting older and I probably should have just done this 10 years ago, but the second best day to plant a tattoo is today (or, rather, the day before the movers came, a few weeks ago).
My final little souvenir of New York was to get the tattoo I'd been thinking about for the last 8 years. I asked the artist to add a little something to it to help commemorate our time in Red Hook—one of Brooklyn's odd little seaside neighborhoods, always flooding and for 11 years, home.
I will probably now forever have to explain Renaissance European typography and the medial s, but that's what gives life flavor.
