I was curious about this image and looked it up. I guess this image is showing that mice with this specific genetic anomaly are poor nest builders. So like it's not one mouse eventually building a good nest, it's three mice building terrible nests and two doing a passable job at it.

@jessamyn No! I am always glad to know the real context. I am just one of those people who has a physical response to seeing suffering.

Really, I just want to gently put a little of the fluffed bedding under mouse a's little head. And yes, I know what usually happens to mice at the end of an experiment :/

I’ve known a few researchers and I guarantee that every one of these mice has a long and fulfilling life after their service. Just because they’re bad at nesting, they can certainly find humans who can help out!
