"Hi! Today I asked my daughter to clean up her room, but she said that she can't, because our cat is sleeping and he is too cute to move him away. also he looks so tired, that moving anything in her room would wake him up. 😅 I think this time our girl got the cell 😄🙈"

imprisonment seems a bit harsh
@Mr_Encyclopedia lol - refers to the "single brain cell" that is apparently shared by all orange cats, who mostly wait around for a turn with it (that may never come), judging by their extreme risk tolerance.

How 'bout primates?

I think about this quote literally every time I happen to hear Christian rock.
It's hard not to respect the kind of conservative Hank Hill is. It's a shame that more American conservatives aren't like him.
I wrote an email to a Montana lawmaker this morning simply to thank him for taking a moderate stance, @urlnotfound. You might appreciate his quote.
"The irony mystifies me that we’re supposed to be the party of less government until it’s our own brand of governing people’s lives."

@samh There is a conservative politician in the US who is capable of acknowledging the cognitive dissonance of their party?

Sorry. I am struggling with my own cognitive dissonance right now.

The divorce rate in America peaked in like 1978 and was 0.23% in 2022, lower than it was in 1965. How old are Jeras's grandparents? https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qim...
I thought it was the opposite of financial independence that was to "blame".
Wage disparity and childcare costs combined with the ridiculous rise in the cost of housing means that more women are not working full time, not building a super account or other savings, are more dependent on the husband to provide financial support and therefore can not escape what might be an entirely disagreeable situation, via divorce or just leaving.
The rise of homeless women numbers is the natural outcome. Combine that with the lack of government action and we have a disaster.

I spent a decade in Fargo. Probably didn't lie with a tomato horse... but can't be certain.

@homerj LOL now I can't stop laughing at the idea of some nasty little 2-stroke engine in a home-cleaning product.
@caitlinburke that thing CLEARLY has a tiny little V8. BUY AMERICAN
She 100% has the face of someone who is about to be surprised by a face-melting robot laser.
It's primary safety feature is that an adult's hand is large enough to eventually stop the mechanism.

Asked MidJourney to make a Godzilla movie poster using the prompt "'Godzilla' movie poster". Simple enough. Not once, in more than a hundred iterations, did it get the spelling of Godzilla correct.
Some of the more entertaining variations, in alphabetical order: Codbilla, Coiddulazziai, Czogiia, God'zia, Godila, Godlallia, Godllla, Godzila, Goiiza, Goiza, Golla, Goobilia, Good-ziiia, Goodaariaaiiiai, Gooidlia, Gooilla, Gooizlia, Goozzilila, Goridillia, and Koouitlia
It's interesting to try and 'think like the algorithm', and figure out why it can get the general layout of a word (most start with 'go', most have d,z,i,l, and a), but doesn't have an intuitive grasp of letter order or amounts. I wonder how much is just attempted glyph reproduction, and how much (if any) is language-based.

Like the fingers, I hope this can never be fixed. I love them.
(and, of course, saved to the Kaiju shake)
Dang, it can't even spell Gyoza right, either!

@urlnotfound @mcmjolnir @macmanx @spingo @macmanx @caitlinburke @heyitsal @me3dia If I put this on a tshirt and the person who triggered the image generation sues me, will you join an amicis brief so we can all go home very rich when the judge rules that AI output cannot be copyrighted?
@MackReed given the deep pockets of the a-holes making this AIs, I wouldn't mess around selling a lot of these. Just enough to be a nuisance.

@MackReed IIRC, the MidJourney terms say the subscriber (if paid) owns the rights, so maybe just ask @kokgiak? :D
Yep, I pay, and according to MJs terms, these images are mine to do what I want with. Go ahead, make the shirts, just buy me some beer and pizza when you get rich.
@mcmjolnir @caitlinburke Gah.
@BennyTheIcepick Thanx!
@kokogiak Aw. I wanted ya to sue! I was gonna make it a test case for aaaaallll the AI law that has yet to be written, challenged, litigated, and settled before AI replaces the judicial system.

Am I the only one who came to this thread to buy an actual T-Shirt from @MackReed ?
@MackReed You better make those shirts, or I'll sue!
@caitlinburke @urlnotfound @MackReed @mcmjolnir I just threw this into my Redbubble account, so, if anyone really actually wants this on a shirt or tote or throw pillow, it's here: https://www.redbubble.com/shop...
@kokogiak Outstanding. I'm buying one later today. I may pick up a couple of others. I just need to decide if I need more stupid t-shirts.
Who am I kidding. I need more stupid t-shirts. Recommendations?

This is great. (FWIW I've never been entirely convinced of the reading that Manet intended the figure of Olympia's maid to be to negatively coded? I'm surely romanticizing and justifying it; for years now it's been striking to me that literally almost the only thing we know about Laure is that Manet thought she was beautiful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki.... Not even her full name.)
Genius!
Absolutely this.
FUCKING. BRILLIANT.
She's an acquaintance of mine, and her books are fantastic. Her latest is a murder mystery set on a spaceship -- sort of the Thin Man meets Avenue Five (without the stunning stupidity).
